USPS® Rate Change Effective July 12, 2026

The USPS® has announced mailing and shipping adjustments that, if approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC), will go into effect on July 12, 2026. Pitney Bowes postage meters and shipping software will automatically update with these changes. A summary of these changes is below.

Mailing Rate Changes

  • First-Class stamp: Increase from 78¢ to 82¢
  • Metered 1-oz letters: Increase from 74¢ to 78¢, maintaining the 4¢ savings
  • Domestic postcards: Increase from 61¢ to 65¢
  • Certified Mail fee: $5.30 to $5.55

Shipping Updates

  • DIM divisor is changing from 166 to 139, aligning with UPS and FedEx.
  • USPS Ground Advantage will no longer use ounce-based pricing for Commercial rates.
  • A $3.00 per package fee will apply for missing or incorrect package dimensions.
  • A new $7.50 HazMat fee will apply to Priority Mail® and Priority Mail Express® shipments.
  • A $50 non-compliance fee will apply to undeclared hazardous materials or improperly labeled shipments.
